We
are lucky enough to be staying in Little India during the start of the
festivities for Deepavali or the festival of lights. Everywhere
is amazingly decorated and when we visited the local Hindu temple we
encountered the annual fire walking ceremony. Here are some pictures to give you a taste of Little India.

The Sri Mariamman Temple is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple and there is no way that my photographs do any justice to the visual masterpiece that it is. |
This cool 360* view
of the temple gives you an idea of what it is like inside. However, on our
visit it was all decorated and people were walking over hot coals.

Local cinema- you can smell the butter popcorn for miles around! |

The main road is completely decorated with lights like this. |

Attempting to cross the main road is fun! |
