So New Zealand is in winter, we are cold! Coming from the parched deserts of the south west USA to wintery New Zealand is a system shock. We are keeping warm with plenty of layers and lots of walking. Auckland is very relaxed and has loads of parks, green spaces, art and museums.
We have spent the last two days exploring the city centre area, Mount Eden and Auckland Museum. Mount Eden is an extinct volcano that has a well preserved crater at the top, it is a steep but short climb to the top with some really pretty views across the city. Auckland Museum has a really varied set of exhibits and surprised us with how good the collection was. We spent all afternoon there and had to be kicked out (again). The Maori and Polynesian collections were extensive and gave an interesting look into the history of these cultures.
Today we pick up the camper van and begin our next road trip but this time back on the correct side of the road!
Keep your eyes peeled for photos from Auckland as we will post them when we have better Wifi.
