5 years in the planning we are nearly ready for the off, on August 1st our adventure will begin. We thought everyone might like to know the outline of plans as they stand.
Departing from London for New York we begin the 1st leg of the trip. After a few days in the Big Apple a sleeper train takes us (Cary Grant style) to Orlando and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Our USA road trip begins in Florida then moves through the deep south to New Orleans. Leaving New Orleans we hot tail it across Texas to pickup Route 66 in Amarillo, 2 weeks following the Mother Road takes us to Las Vegas. From Vegas it is a short(ish by US standards) trip to LA.
LA brings to a close our US road trip as we fly out to Auckland, New Zealand for our 2nd leg.
After a couple of days exploring Auckland we will be picking up our home for the next few weeks, a rather fetching graffiti covered camper-van. The route round NZ is still a bit sketchy so updates will have to come as we come up with them, but after NZ it is a quick hop to Singapore.
Singapore is the launching point for the third (and vaguest) leg of the trip, our mammoth overland adventure North to Shanghai via Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Japan. Taking in every form of ground transport from boots to boats, trains to tuk tuks we will be slowing down the pace.
